My name is B.K. (Ben) DeLong. I'm a married, 30-year old, spiritual, environmentally-conscious, progressive-liberal, as well as a music-loving motion-picture enthusiast, and a hacker-wannabe, Web geek author and techno-futurist.

I live in Salem, Massachusetts where I reside in a beautiful Federal Colonial-style house with my wife, son, a cat (Nessa, a tiny, dark gray/tabby Maine Coon) and dog (Sierra, a Blue Merle Miniature Australian Shepherd).

I am a proud father of William, named after his maternal great-grandfather and a little boy who is growing up fast. He has his own Web site which I update for now but when he's older it will get turned over to him.

I am a passionate researcher and often seek the full story behind any subject that catches my interest - and I'm very good and finding that knowledge too. It took me years to come to explain what an intuitive researcher is.

I see myself as being in the present, future (I'm very interested in all things transhumanist, sci-fi, and futurist \), and the past via the SCA. I suppose that makes me chronologically balanced.

I am a fan of many things though my participation in fandoms is limited, (my "interests" would be at least twice as long if I put all the authors, musicians, and tv shows I enjoy), I became educated over a period of 3-4 years after co-founding a web site called "The Leaky Cauldron", getting a crash course in all things fandom. In that time, I became a stickler for canon so stayed away from most fanfiction due to the propensity for becoming annoyed. Yes, I'm a canon-snob. That and I have an addictive personality so I have to be careful with what I obsess over.

I have fairly eclectic music tastes. I grew up in Western MA and spent lots of time in Northampton both in high school in college so I was heavy into the folk/singer-singerwriter scene- Catie Curtis, Ellis Paul, The Story (Jennifer Kimball and Jonatha Brook), The Nields plus Ani Difranco, Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan, Loreena McKinnitt. My mother, harpnfiddle plays, well, Harp and Fiddle, so I grew up with a heavy Celtic music influence - Battlefield Band, Chieftans, Altan, Silly Wizard, Tannahill Weavers, Alasdair Frasier, Barra Macneils, Natalie Macmaster. Every so often depending on my mood I'll throw in a weird mix from Opeth to Mozart to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to Alison Krauss to John Rutter.
